SINGAPORE

1. So Pho

Craving for a hot bowl of yummy, comfort goodness? Head down to So Pho, a halal Vietnamese chain restaurant that serves all kind of traditional Vietnamese dishes ranging from soup noodles and wraps to rice bowls and traditional sandwiches.

To make ordering more convenient, the restaurant provides order sheets at each table. Customers can take their time to decide what they want before filling up the order sheet.

The star dish would definitely be the pho, a type of Vietnamese noodle soup typically made from beef stock. Springy noodles with light and flavourful broth, you would definitely want to try this if you’re looking for something light! A pretty un-pho-gettable meal to be quite honest.

You also have the option of choosing the meat – either beef or chicken. If you’re up for some bite-sized appetisers, we’d recommend the flavourful rice wraps or crispy, fried spring rolls! For a lighter meal, you might want to opt for the banh mi – a Vietnamese snack consisting of a baguette typically filled with meat, pickled vegetables, and chili.

2. Maki-San

Maki-your-own-sushi right here at Maki-San. If you’re a picky eater and need your meal to be personalised to the very last detail, this is the place for you. Plus, it’s super affordable!

Start by choosing which wrap you’d like your maki in – traditional nori (seaweed), crepe (egg wrap) or healthy soy wrap. Next, choose your carbs. For the health-conscious, they offer brown rice option as well! Then, take your pick of ingredients, sprinkles and sauces to complete your maki! I really wasn’t kidding when I said your maki is personalized right down to the very detail.

If you’re craving for something crispy (or just feel like eating something unhealthy), opt to fry your sushi at a small additional price! Do note that you can only opt for this if you chose the traditional nori wrap.
